Towards a sustainable future: Wolf Oil Corporation partners with RafCycle to reduce label waste

In a world of dwindling resources and ever-increasing waste, the circular economy is an important alternative for a more sustainable future. As a company that is strongly committed to minimizing its environmental impact, Wolf Oil Corporation is proud to announce that it will start recycling its label release liners, reducing up to 40% of its general waste stream thanks to its new partnership with RafCycle.

Label release liners are common materials used on bottle labels and are often mistaken as paper waste. In reality, release liners belong to the general waste category. Currently, the release liners used in labelling our bottles account for 30-50% of our general waste stream.


Wolf Oil Corporation is proud to announce that it will start recycling its label release liners, reducing up to 40% of its general waste stream thanks to its new partnership with RafCycle


But here’s the good news: we are able to make a huge change here! After a thorough internal analysis with a focus on minimizing waste, Wolf Oil Corporation and RafCycle have joined forces to recycle these label release liner materials. From April 2022, the waste generated from bottle labelling at our headquarters in Belgium will be put into a closed-loop solution, where the recycled content is used for new label materials!

How does it work?

Label release liners can be de-siliconized and recycled into pulp and paper thanks to RafCycle. The company is able to utilize its extensive collection network to facilitate cost-effective release liner recycling. They offer closed-loop solutions where the recycled content is used for new label materials or other paper products.


Here’s how it works, step by step:

  1. RafCycle recycling service collects label release liner waste at our headquarters in Hemiksem.
  2. Their partner processes the release liner into recycled pulp or plastics.
  3. Their raw materials supply partner makes new release liner stock from the post-consumer recycled (PCR) containing recycled materials.
  4. They manufacture FSC™-certified (FSC C012530) laminate and PET or glassine release liner utilizing the recycled face and release stock, creating new label material from waste.
  5. This liner will be used for new labels, which will be used at our headquarters in Hemiksem.
